The FAIA

Without food ingredients and additives, the food we eat today would look and taste very different, and many of the products we take for granted simply wouldn’t exist. But if you read the iA selection of oilsngredients listings on many food packets, you’ll find unfamiliar-sounding chemical names. What are they, and what are they there for? The information on this site is designed to tell you more, and give an insight into the uses of many different types of food ingredients and additives.

FAIA is the Food Additives and Ingredients Association, which represents UK manufacturers of these important products. It works to promote a better understanding of the role of food additives and functional ingredients and the reasons why they are so important. It also helps FAIA booklet - In The Mixits members keep up-to-date with the latest food legislation and regulations, much of which now comes from the EU, and puts their views across to the various authorities.

Want to know more about food additives and how they tie into the chemistry that goes on in the kitchen? Download our booklet, In the Mix.
